International Music Day was established on October 1st, 1973 on the initiative of the International Music Council under UNESCO at the 15th General Assembly in Lausanne. One of the initiators of this holiday’s establishment was the famous Soviet composer Dmitry Shostakovich.
This professional holiday is celebrated around the world by holding various cultural events with the participation of the best masters of art and creative groups.
The Union of Composers of Tajikistan will organize several concerts and meetings of composers and musicologists with students of institutions of culture and art to celebrate International Music Day.
Issues such as protection and development of national art, support of various types of professional art, including the work of composers and musicologists, training of new specialists are under the careful attention of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon. Evidence of this is formation of the Tajik National Conservatory named after T. Sattorov, State Symphony Orchestra under the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Children's State Philharmonic, which support the prosperity and development of professional music in our country.
