Team from Tajikistan won third place in XII International music festival "Melodies of Orient"

 

Team from Tajikistan – The folk ensemble of State touring and concert Institution “Bazmoro” was awarded third place diploma, a cash prize of 2 000 $ and memorable gifts in XII International music festival "Melodies of Orient".

The festival was held in Registan Square in ancient Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan on August 26-30.

The third places were also taken by the team from Russia “Ayarkhan”, as well as representatives of Uzbekistan – Azizjon Abduazimov and Ulugbek Elmurodzoda.

The second place was awarded to the teams “Archabil” from Turkmenistan and “Hatan” from Mongolia. They were awarded a cash prize in the amount of 3500 $, diplomas and gifts.

The duo “Komuzchilar” from Kyrgyzstan and Parviz Gasimov from Azerbaijan won the first place. They received cash prizes in the amount of 5000 $, diplomas and presents.

By decision of the jury, which was consisted of 7 musicologists and composers from different countries, Uzbekistan’s Mekhrinigor Abdurashidova was awarded the Grand Prix of the XII International Music Festival "Melodies of Orient".

Some collectives were awarded in the nominations “The best combination of costume and music”, “For chanting kindness and love”, “A devoted supporter of the musical art of Eastern people”, “A team devoted to traditions”, “Continuator of traditions”. Special prizes were awarded by the government agency of Samarkand region and the city of Samarkand, and other organizations.

The winners of these nominations were awarded with diplomas, a cash prize in the amount of 500 USD and memorable gifts.

The music festival was aimed at developing the art of music of the East, promoting folk, exchanging cultures between the nations living in Uzbekistan with the world and foster scientific exchange in music industry.

The festival was held under the auspices of UNESCO once in two years in Samarkand in late August.
This year, the event brought together 340 guests from 75 countries of the world.
Events like scientific-practical conference "Prospects for development of traditional musical art of the peoples of the East," round tables, seminars also took place within the festival.
